Sam and Joyce's son, Pete, took the reins from his parents in 1985. He worked alongside them until he knew every aspect of the business, from baking and decorating to payroll and profit and losses. He built an addition to the original grocery store increasing the footprint of the bakery to 1,500 square feet. He created a dessert menu, made cupcakes the star of the show, and added a full deli that offered po-boys and salads that featured his own chicken salad recipe. In 2023, Pete celebrated 55 years in business by bringing his son into the mix.

Named after his grandfather and great-grandfather, Samuel joined the family business in 2019, and in 2020, he weathered the storms of COVID and back-to-back hurricanes. During this closure, Samuel enrolled in Louisiana Culinary Institute in Baton Rouge where he completed two degrees in Advanced Culinary Arts and Advanced Baking and Pastry in 2023. He returned to the new location in Moss Bluff and started implementing innovative ideas that blended perfectly with our time-honored traditions and recipes. Since his return, our customers expect each time they visit Jo’s. Sam will continue to develop the menu while he oversees the operations at our new location in Lake Charles slated to open in the Spring of 2026!
